I’m Steve Deakin, based in Cardiff. I work across photography, community projects, events, and practical technology.
Most of what I do sits somewhere between creative work and useful systems: helping photography communities become more active, supporting businesses with online tools, and building small pieces of infrastructure that make real-world projects easier to run.
I’m involved with projects including D2EAK, Clickheads, Camera Centre UK, Wales & West Photography Show, and T1ckets. Some are business platforms, some are community spaces, and some are experiments that started because something needed to exist and no one had built it yet.
This site is my personal space for writing about that mix: camera gear, photography communities, events, automation, WordPress, AI, and the practical lessons that come from building things in public.
I’m not trying to turn this into a polished corporate brochure. It’s more useful as a working notebook: what I’m testing, what I’m learning, what I think is worth sharing, and the projects I’m currently shaping.
